It was the year 2010 when a festival Karachi literature festival began to promote literature to celebrate new publications and to meet in person, some of the brightest men and women belonging to the world of literature .
It has been organized by the efforts and co operation of many organizations , banks and consulates within the city .
6 th Annual Karachi Literature Festival started today at Beach Luxury Hotel .
Karachi is a city which has endured a lot in the last three decades . By organizing events like the literature festival and the food festival it not only showed to the world that a country which has to deal with countless problems, including terrorism could still succeed in collaborating an event of such stature .
According to Dawn News : "the image that Karachiites in particular and Pakistanis in general loved to read, and knew how to value their writers and thinkers".
Pakistani-American author Soniah Kamal's debut novel An Isolated Incident is a finalist for the Karachi Literature Festival - Embassy of France Prize 2015.
The novel is one out of four shortlisted for the prize out of a total 10 books, which were submitted for nomination. The prize winner will be announced during the opening ceremony.
This year the keynote speeches will be delivered by Nayantara Sahgal and Zehra Nigah. Ms Sahgal who is an internationally renowned Indian fiction writer in English and Ms Nigah is a famous Pakistani Urdu poetess.
I hope to attend this festival one day and present my own short novel .
